the sales tax may be a valid idea but would it apply to groceries, drugs, utility bills? Senior citizens on medicare, minimum wage workers, etc may not be able to afford that much additional expense.

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world. I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation. When I found I couldn't change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn't change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family. Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world

Jim, the point is no party will ever do everything everyone would want. The point of the website is to inspire and hopefully solicit some good ideas and solutions. It is us as individuals that make a difference. So get out and spread the word and make sure to vote.

I too am a little confused by all the references to Ronald Reagan, but the banner has a picture of Ben Franklin? If I were to â??joinâ? I would like to know who the leadership behind this Party is & where is the funding coming from? We canâ??t hold other Partyâ??s to higher standards if we are not willing to do the sameâ?¦ lead by example. I would really like to see this Party only talk about how to improve the state of affairs of this Country and not point fingers or start blaming the â??other guyâ?!

Funny I was thinking about creating a Common Sense Party, and I found you beat me to the punch. You want a comprehensive set of ideas in keeping with America's heritage, see http://simplynatural.blogtownhall.com/2011/04/08/wholistic_libertarianism.thtml Back to common sense....there are 2 outstanding examples of common sense that almost no one in politics is confronting: 1>the suicidal trade policies that have destroyed most of American consumer manufacturing and our economy. 2> the real health problem in the USA is not access to medical insurance but the miserable health of most Americans due to their junk food diet. Both of these can be resolved by defending LIBERTY & respecting Equality Before the Law.

Read all of below, again disallusioned, dissappointed and just sick of it all.... I sat at dinner tonight with my husband of 25 years, worked hard, saved like I was supposed to and still behind the eight ball more now than ever before!!! All of these platforforms sound wonderful and enticing, but who is realy going to make a difference??? I am just an average "joe" who is madder than I have ever been before in my life. My husband teases that we can't make a difference. I KNOW HE IS WRONG ...WHO IS OUT THERE THAT WANT'S TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! I am no economist and certainly not a politician, but there has got to people out there that feel like I do. I will watch this blog if I get a decent response perhaps we need to start again!

It's a nice try and a great attempt but there should be more planning.. the Ideas are sound but they have holes just like our current laws do. I do like the over all thinking, a common sense approach. my one question/statement about our laws is why do we allow our Candidates to not separate church and state, beliefs should be left outta making laws.

Our economy was destroyed by Dems and Repubs. We need to start with reforming them first. Americans are not being represented in Congress, if they were, then the focus would be on us, not political parties. We can't grow enough corn for 100% use of ethanol. Car companies were destroyed by the unions. Aid to foreign countries has it place and the reasons may be classified but necessary. Welfare reform is a must. Federal law should mandate drug testing for everyone that is receiving a Gov't check, even politicians and welfare recipients. Set limits on campaign spending; social security payback by US Gov't; stop taking money out of social security; use federal prisoners for free agricultural labor in order to reduce the incentive for crossing our southern border; federally mandate photo ID for voting; produce incentives for families that pay off their debts early; overhaul the education system and put the responsibility back on to the parent(s) AND teachers. If what I am writing is not in line with the CSP let me know. Thanks.

Well at least you are trying to have a dialog. But seriously a 20% retail tax? If you know anything about retail and the internet, which you obviously don't, the most states have a 6 to 9% sales tax already and if you were to add a 20% federal tax that sort of shoots most people out of the water to pay for basic needs. On top of that most internet companies pay little or no tax and this is why 47 states are having financial problems because people are idiots and think they can get everything cheaper on the web. By the time you add the shipping it really isn't cheaper and you have just helped add to the economic problems with your state by buying from the internet. I have worked for internet companies for the last 5 years. Thanks for trying but you need to go back to the drwaing board here.

And where is some contact information because the ideas of the party should come from the people that are members, not the politicians.

This party has some great ideas but what about pulling out our aid to countries like Pakistan that is used as appeasment (same as what England did for Hitler to keep peace)? And what about jumpstarting industry? Or what about the gun controll issue (which every American without a mental problem and without a criminal record should be able to own)? What about Obamacare or political corruption in the two major parties? Just some things this party needs to look into before I'm a full fledged member.

Every county in the US could become self insured. If a county had 65,000 residents and 1 car, paying $1000/yr in premiums, the non profit org could habe $65,000,000 incoming with minimul outgoing. Communities could eventually use assets to build plants for eco fuel that could service serveral counties. The same could hold true for recycle garbage used fuel power plants. Funds would multiply quickly within 10 yrs and service sensible mortgages, property values, education, police, fire, and the security of the communities. Common sense does go on an on

I'm just curious....how many people are signed up here? Who is in charge and how do I contact them? I do like some of the ideas but who do we contact to share our own?

Someone with an income of $24,000 per year would pay a higher % of income compared with a person making $1,000,000, for example. Are you just transferring the burden of taxes to the ones who can afford it less? What about a corporations tax? Garry, a referendum should be held in a foreign county that receives aid from the USA, it should be an easy question. Do you want the USA in your country? If not, then pull out and they get NO aid from us whatsoever, be it food, materials, or any aid of any kind, no matter what the circumstance. Even during a disaster. Go to someone else for it. The USA should be appreciated & thanked for what it does in foreign countries. No more handouts to companies. What about investment taxes?

So, part of Common Sense is mocking the democratically elected President of the United States and a dash of pictures of Ronald Reagan? So, this is just Tea Party lite, sanitized for the less crazy?

Jeff said:   March 18, 2011 2:30 pm PST
I was hoping for some Common Sense when I heard about this party but reading the platform it sounds exactly like the Republican Party. Nice try though.

I am not understanding.......There is a common sense approach to the deficit...First, all financial aid to other countries would be stopped.....Secondly, we should do as brazil and switch to ethanol....And the government should sit down with the energy companies and car companies and that is where the investment should come from...This way it would benefit everyone..... Charity begins at home!!
